When we started this little restaurant back in 2013,
we really didn't know where it would take us. We
just knew we wanted to work hard, serve good
food, treat people right, and hopefully build
something our family could be proud of.
Somewhere along the way, it became so much more
than a restaurant.
It became our life.
We got to know so many of you by name. We watched your kids grow up. We saw the same families come back every summer. We celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and everything in between with you. Some of you came in so often that seeing you walk through the door just felt like seeing an old friend.
And that's what makes this so hard.
There are a lot of things we're going to miss, but more than anything, we're going to miss the people.
We're going to miss the conversations, the laughter, the familiar faces and even those crazy days when the place was packed and we didn't know which way was up.
To everyone who ever walked through our doors, ordered a plate, told a friend about us, left us a kind review, came back year after year, or just stopped by to say hello — thank you.
You kept us going for 13 years.
And to everyone who ever worked alongside us, thank you too. You were a big part of Surf City BBQ, and we couldn't have done it without you.
Rebecca and I have spent a lot of our lives inside these walls. There were good days, hard days, long days and plenty of days when we wondered what in the world we had gotten ourselves into. But looking back now, we wouldn't trade the memories we've made or the people we've met for anything.
God has been good to us.
He gave us the opportunity to build this place together, to make a living doing something we loved, and most importantly, to meet so many people who became much more than customers.
So instead of saying goodbye with sadness, we just want to say thank you.
Thank you for supporting our family.
Thank you for supporting a little local BBQ joint.
Thank you for all the hugs, handshakes, laughs, prayers, stories and memories.
And thank you for giving Surf City BBQ a place in this community for the last 13 years.
We hope when you think about Surf City BBQ, you'll remember a good meal, a good time and maybe somebody you shared both of those with.
We know that's what we'll remember.
We love y'all, and we're going to miss seeing you.
